Engineering scope
Key engineering challenges
- Avoid layer compression and thermal bridges
- Control outgassing and particulate contamination
- Accommodate shields, leads, supports, and service openings
System layers
- 01 4K boundary
Cryostat or cold-mass surface and intermediate shields defined by the system designer.
- 02 Reflective insulation
CryoMLI 102 or 302 configured for boundary temperatures and available installation volume.
- 03 Controlled fixing
CryoTape selected for localized seams and handling, with vacuum compatibility reviewed.
- 04 Protection
CryoFiG used where abrasion or handling protection is needed without compressing the MLI.
Supporting materials and supply boundaries
East Far Cryo supplies cryogenic insulation materials, related processing, and material-selection support. Equipment and system responsibilities remain with the project owner and equipment designer.
- Cryostat, magnet, current leads, thermal shields, supports, and vacuum hardware remain equipment-designer responsibilities.
- Electrical insulation and quench-safety materials require separate system qualification.
- Cleanliness, particulate, and outgassing limits must be supplied by the project.
Parameters needed for quotation
- Cryogenic medium and normal / transient operating temperatures
- Target vacuum level, pump-down method, hold time, and expected residual-gas load
- Equipment geometry, dimensions or surface area, penetrations, and installation access
- Target heat leak or required layer count and any governing acceptance method
- Required delivery form: rolls, slit widths, sewn blankets, profile-cut parts, or installation kits
- Cold-mass and shield temperatures, magnetic / electrical restrictions, and cleanliness class
